CNN/International Goes Interactive
Source: Digital Spy CNN has launched an interactive TV application on Telewest's digital cable service.
The Two Way TV-built text application, accessible by pressing the red button when tuned to CNN, features in-depth stories, weather reports, financial news and a schedule guide.
"The interactive television service ensures that our viewers have more information available at their fingertips in an easy-to-use format," said CNN business development manager Chris Press.
"We are delighted to support this enhancement to CNN, and are always keen to champion cable interactivity," said James Turner, head of sales at Two Way TV.

CNN Coverage Plans for President Bush Speech on Immigration
Source: CNN Press Release CNN plans to air special editions of both The Situation Room and Lou Dobbs Tonight as part of its coverage of President George W. Bush's address to the nation on Monday, May 15, from the Oval Office. Bush plans to speak about U.S. immigration policy.
Anchors Wolf Blitzer and Lou Dobbs will co-anchor The Situation Room from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. from CNN's Washington, D.C., bureau. The program will air Bush's speech, scheduled for 8 p.m., in its entirety.
Lou Dobbs Tonight, anchored by Dobbs from Washington, will follow the speech, airing from about 8:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
All times Eastern.

Chinoy Joins Pacific Council on International Policy

CNN's Senior Asia Correspondent Mike Chinoy will be appointed as the Pacific Council on International Policy's inaugural Edgerton Fellow in Korean Security beginning July 1, 2006. "We are very lucky to have secured Mike Chinoy's diverse talents," said President of the Pacific Council Geoffrey Garrett. "The specter of nuclear proliferation and political conflict on the Korean peninsula threatens Asia's growing role as a driver of the global economy. Mike's insights and expertise will prove an invaluable resource to the Council and to the West Coast."
Before leading CNN's overall coverage of the Asia-Pacific region, Chinoy served as CNN's Hong Kong Bureau chief (1996-2000) and the network's Beijing Bureau chief (1987-95).

Snow's Snowjob
I find it funny every now and then how the blogs that cover all the cable news channels just choose to clearly ignore a revelant story. So I add this one to the list. Anyway, it seems newly appointed White House Press Secretary (former FNC'er) Tony Snow is hard at work....well basically doing what he was getting paid to do at FNC. The DC Examiner has an article, on what apparently the first sign Snow is doing his job, detailing the diservice of several news organizations towards President Bush. And to think the guy has not faced the cameras yet in the briefing room. Below is a quote from the article:

It's Official: AC to CBS's 60 Minutes
Here are the details of the arrangement ( via Reuters):
> Anderson Cooper, 38, who remains a full-time employee of the Time Warner Inc.-owned Cable News Network, will contribute as many as five reports a year to "60 Minutes," U.S. television's top-rated news program, starting in the fall.
> In a new twist to the partnership between the broadcast news magazine launched by CBS in 1968 and cable TV's No. 2 news channel, the arrangement allows for Cooper's "60 Minutes" reports to be repeated on a one-time basis on his own CNN program.

Cable News Not for the Young?
It seems young people aren't the ones watching cable news. Duh!! An article in Variety says CNN's and FNC's median viewer age is over 60, Headline News follows at 59.9, and MSNBC 57.
And I really loved this paragraph from the article: "The cable nets' older profiles have also yielded absurd exchanges about demographic superiority, such as the boast that more young adults view MSNBC's Keith Olbermann than CNN's Paula Zahn. Whichever midget is taller, the truth remains that the vast majority of young adults have no interest in either."

Is Cooper Giving Klein What He Wants?
An article in Variety points to Anderson Coopers struggle to get the numbers of, over what Aaron Brown's NewsNight had. Here's a portion of the article:
"Brown averaged 307,000 young viewers a night last year. This April, Cooper averaged 198,000. In total viewers, Cooper averaged 710,000 compared to 907,000 for Brown last year."
