Dobbs Target of Online Protest

Source: Broadcasting and Cable Jon Garrido, who has a network of Hispanic-temed Web sites, has launched an online campaign to boycott AOL as a way to get at CNN's Lou Dobbs for his vocal opposition to illegal immigration.

AOL and CNN are both owned by Time Warner, and Garrido argues on his Web site, axAOL.com, that depressing the value of the online company would be the best way to get at Dobbs.

As Garrido figures it: "If the value of AOL was to decrease dramatically because of the loss of the Hispanic/Latino market, Time Warner ... would move to stop this hemorrhage. The only way to stop the hemorrhage would be to meet the demands of the Hispanic/Latino community: Remove Lou Dobbs off the air."

Dobbs addressed the campaign on his show Monday night. Dobbs invited Garrido to appear, but he refused. The show featured a statement from CNN U.S. President Jon Klein that the network had no intention of removing Dobbs.
