American Morning Salutes Troops in Iraq with Thanksgiving Day Tribute

Source: CNN Press Release CNN’s American Morning will pay tribute to the American troops with special packages profiling them and their stories on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 23, from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. (ET).

During the program, viewers will experience a heartfelt reunion between a soldier stationed in Mosul , Iraq , and his parents and his wife visiting with co-anchor Soledad O’Brien on the American Morning set in New York City .

O’Brien also visits with Sgt. Brian Fountaine, a U.S. Army tank commander who lost part of both his legs after an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded under his tank. She interviews Ken Fisher, the chairman of the Fisher House Foundation, an organization that builds comfort homes for friends and families of wounded soldiers including the one in Bethesda , Md. , where Fountaine and his girlfriend have been staying as he undergoes treatment at nearby Walter Reed Army Medical Center .

In addition, the program will re-air presentations of Lou Dobbs Tonight’s weekly “Heroes” tribute to U.S. servicemen and women. Dobbs introduces viewers to veterans from all branches of service from the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq and displays their heroism in the field of battle.
