IRNA chief: CNN Should Make Up for its Blunder
Source: IRNA Managing Director of the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) Ahmad Khademolmelleh said that Cable News Network (CNN) should attempt to compensate its past performance after the generous move of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to lift the ban imposed on the network on Monday.
In an exclusive interview with Fars News Agency on Tuesday, he praised the president's decision and said that on the one hand Ahmadinejad proved his deep understanding of the media role in the world of today and on the other, he displayed the attitude of the Iranian nation to the international community.
He noted that CNN should make up for its past unprofessional performance and avoid any measure stimulating the wrath of Muslim countries.
"What was done by CNN misquoting Ahmadinejad's remarks, is part of modern censorship carried out with an aim to launch psychological warfare against a country.
"It was a manifestation of modern censorship, in which instead of omitting or not broadcasting the truth, the original item is distorted and changed to the desired form," he added.
Khademolmelleh pointed to CNN as one of the media having distorted the news items several times and censored them in a modern way.
"By using such a non-professional and non-ethical technique, CNN aimed to destroy the reputation of Islamic countries," he added. MORE
