Farmer: Geraldo Nothing But an Embarrassment for FNC
Uh oh, can we expect FNC's Geraldo to file a lawsuit against Don Farmer of the Naples Daily News? In his column today, Farmer calls Geraldo a big embarrassment for FNC. But didn't we already know this? Below is an excerpt from the article:
"Fox News Channel's reign at the top in 24-hour cable news viewership has been enhanced by its coverage of the Katrina Plus catastrophe.
But its otherwise first-rate broadcasts also included the sleazy side of Fox News, its crazy aunt in the attic, the bete noir of broadcasting, the life form who should be reporting from a galaxy far, far away: Geraldo Rivera.
He has, inexplicably, survived and prospered through a TV "news" career in which he's often been a hood ornament when he behaved more like a mud flap on the cheesy journalism juggernaut.
Fox News at its worst can get good ratings, because CNN often is so lame that Fox's on-air people could bite the heads off chickens and still be better than CNN overall.
On any given day, Geraldo's on-air antics may attract viewers the way a fiery highway crash gets gawkers. But if ever there was a news event that needed no grandstanding TV chest-thumpers to get our attention, this was it."
