Cronkite On Cable News
Former CBS Evening News anchor Walter Cronkite tells us what he thinks in an article today in the The UK Observer. Here's his thoughts about cable news:
'I think most of the 24-hour news now done by so many cable stations is valuable, but not all of it. We have the talk shows that are shouting matches now - they're entertainment, not informational, and that seems unnecessary to me. On the other hand the whole next wave is beginning with the internet. The young people today are spending their time at the computer rather than the television set. This is going to change the balance quite a lot. It's going to bring us back to print journalism and we may eventually be able to get hold of young people again.'
