Columnist: Media's Quest for Diversity Fades
Eric Deggans writes a column in response to comments made by Jesse Jackson about the lack of black people anchoring programs on cable and at the networks. Deggans quotes Jackson as saying, ""Not one black (person) leads a show on CNN, or Fox News or MSNBC," he said, voice rising in a preacherly cadence. "Doesn't that offend you?" Deggans points out that Soledad O'brien hosts CNN's American Morning.
The column also addresses the overload coverage and the alleged bias in covering the Natalie Holloway story. Here's what CNN President Jon Klein had to say, "You don't want to be lazy in just slapping a moniker on something," he said. "The question is: Over a period of time of viewing, do you come away understanding the news of the day? At CNN, there's no doubt of our conviction and no doubt we are walking the walk."

Hmmmm....just realized Deggans mentioned O'brien and CNN's Dr. Sanjay Gupta but failed to mention weekend anchor Fredricka Whitfield.
