American Morning Moves to TWC
As reported here earlier in the week, American Morning will begin broadcasting from the Time Warner Center August 22nd. Broadcasting & Cable has picked up on the news and has an article about the move. Below is an excerpt from the article:In its ongoing effort to focus on news over entertainment in its morning show, CNN is building a new set for American Morning that will be located in CNN's newsroom.
The show currently airs live from a streetside studio in the Time Life building in midtown Manhattan. But starting Aug. 22, it will move to CNN’s headquarters at the Time Warner Center on the Upper West Side and begin airing out of a temporary studio while the newsroom set is constructed over the next few months.
The move, which brings together all of CNN’s New York-based shows under one roof, is meant to further emphasize American Morning as a news deestination to counterprogram, music, cooking or other entertainment fare on other morning shows.
Additional 8/11 8:13am ET New York Daily News has comments from CNN/US Prez Jon Klein: "Moving the show upstairs is an attempt to differentiate "American Morning" from the competition, said CNN's U.S. president Jonathan Klein."
"We've got a newfound dedication to being the newsy alternative," Klein said. "We've always intended to be that, but we haven't quite been as up to that as we should have."
"We definitely know that there are viewers out there who crave news and information in the morning," said Klein. The new look, he said, is "a bold differentiation that clearly sets us apart from the dreary me-tooism of morning news programming."
