Top Mexican Journalist Teams with CNN en Español to Launch Talk Show

Source: CNN Pressroom Carmen Aristegui, one of Mexico’s most respected journalists, and CNN en Español, the leading news network in Latin America, have joined forces to launch Aristegui, a prime-time weeknight talk show featuring the country’s most influential and interesting newsmakers and personalities.

The program launch was announced jointly at a Mexico City press conference on Wednesday, June 15, by Aristegui and Christopher Crommett, senior vice president of CNN en Español.

“We are delighted to have a journalist of Carmen’s caliber join CNN en Español,” Crommett said. “This is the first regularly scheduled program of its kind to air on the network, and since 67 percent of U.S. Hispanics are of Mexican birth or descent, Aristegui promises to be ‘must see’ viewing for well-informed viewers in the United States.

“With Mexico’s presidential elections just one year away, we view the launch of this show as particularly timely,” he added.

“Launching Aristegui on the single most important news network in the world not only represents a personal and a professional challenge but also allows me to join in this new perspective of CNN, to closely examine relevant events for Mexicans on both sides of the border,” Aristegui said. “We want to respond to the pressing need for information, discussion and debate of imperative issues that Mexicans are increasingly looking for.”

Aristegui will launch Monday, July 4, and air Monday through Friday at 11:00 p.m. with a replay at 12:30 a.m. The week’s highlight edition of the program will also air through the weekend. All times Eastern.
