Q and A With CNN.com Exec

Source: Lost Remote Cory Bergman interviewed Susan Grant, executive VP of CNN News Services, about CNN.com's new free video and upcoming plans to offer a premium service. Below are just a few of the questions asked:
LR: From a content standpoint, do you think free video is a necessity to compete with rivals like MSNBC.com?

Grant: The free video offering is responsive to our consumers' desire to get a more complete, multi-media experience when they come to CNN.com to get the most accurate, topical, relevant news and information. By utilizing the vast global newsgathering infrastructure and the breadth of the networks within the CNN News Group, we can offer broadband users an unmatchable experience.

LR: How are CNN.com readers responding to the change? Any video stats you can share from the first few days?

Grant: Online users are loving it! The feedback has been extremely positive overall, and specifically they like (i) the re-styling of the site, which better integrated video within the site and made the video easier to access; (ii) the video player, which allows them a variety of ways to sort and browse the video; (iii) the bigger screen in the player, which makes the video easier to watch; and (iv) the great CNN content.

LR: CNN.com is launching a new premium service in the fall. What can you tell me about it?

Grant: Just that we think it's going to be an incredibly unique online news experience. It will offer multiple live video feeds. I really look forward to showcasing the product and talking about all the exciting details later this summer.

LR: I understand the new service is a major undertaking for the company?

Grant: It is something we are all excited about!
