Woodruff Resignation Casts Doubt on CNN Plans
Source: Daily Colonial The relationship between GW and CNN is becoming increasingly unclear a week after the news organization’s lead political anchor, Judy Woodruff, announced her resignation from the network and her signature political show “Inside Politics,” which was slated to move to GW after “Crossfire” ended.
There is no word yet on what the future of Woodruff’s “Inside Politics” will be. This comes months after CNN announced the end of the infamous political debate show “Crossfire,” a cancellation that has yet to occur. With both “Inside Politics” and “Crossfire” on the fringe of death, whether or not CNN will continue to broadcast from GW’s campus is in question.
Woodruff’s announcement sent shockwaves among those in the GW community associated with bringing CNN programming to the university’s campus.
“The wheels in my brain started to turn and I was thinking, ‘This can’t be good,’” said sophomore Christopher Kline, who has volunteered for “Crossfire” since 2002.
“When that announcement was made last Thursday, a lot of people’s eyebrows were raised,” he said about those who worked in the Jack Morton Auditorium with him to produce “Crossfire” on weekdays. “There was a lot more concern than there was before last Thursday.”
Kline said that he and many of his other coworkers, including the producers of the show, are not aware of what will happen now that Woodruff is leaving her program. MORE
