Turner Makes Rare Visit to Braves Clubhouse
Source: SI.com The Atlanta Braves had a surprise visitor to the clubhouse Tuesday night before they played the Florida Marlins.
Former owner Ted Turner.
While he lost control of the Braves during mergers with Time Warner and AOL, Turner still follows the team he purchased in 1976."We're in first place, right?" he asked manager Bobby Cox.
"Well, almost," Cox replied. "We're only down by percentage points."Turner wore a Braves cap for his first game of the season and he was in typical form -- breezing through the clubhouse like a tornado. He cracked one-liners and shook hands with as many people as possible in a visit that lasted no more than five minutes.
Players started popping out from all over the place, eager to meet the larger-than life figure whose name is on Turner Field but stepped away from the team before most of them came to Atlanta. The former owner greeted everyone with his left hand extended, explaining that he broke his right arm while skiing. MORE
