CNN Political Producer Discusses Media Bias
Source: Vanderbilt Hustler Sam Feist, senior political producer for CNN and Vanderbilt alumnus, gave a lecture Tuesday evening at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN regarding "Media Bias in Campaign Coverage."
As senior political producer for CNN, Feist coordinates such popular political programs as "Crossfire" and "Wolf Blitzer Reports."
Below are a few of his comments:
"One goal of media networks is to make news through lines of questioning; that is, ask the question that will trigger a new response. Networks do not want to ask the same questions over and over again, because then you will only get the same answers," Feist said.
Feist said that he recognizes the power of working for a major news organization, especially during a presidential election.
"During these times, the media has the power to shape how Americans see their candidates by what the news networks decide to show," Feist said.
