Danger Part Of Job For Cooper
Source: Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Anderson Cooper says security concerns can't get in the way of covering Sunday's Iraqi elections."You can't help but be here and feel under threat," CNN's current go-to guy says during a phone call from Baghdad on Thursday. "You try not to let that overwhelm you. "Armor-plated glass protects, but it also distorts."
Cooper was due to arrive in the Iraqi capital Monday, but insurgent fire prevented his plane from landing. Twice."As we did a corkscrew landing, spiraling over the airport to avoid getting hit, we had to abort our landing," he recalls.
It was Tuesday before he was able to get on the ground - and then take the dangerous ride from the airport into the city. CNN is based in a residential area of the city, outside the fortified Green Zone. MORE
