CNN-International Finding An American Audience
It seems CNN-International is becoming a hit with viewers in the US. Tim Cuprisin with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel writes: The networks did their part, mostly in regular news broadcasts. And CNN, Fox and MSNBC all devoted ample time to the story. But thanks to the failure last month of CNN's financial channel, CNNfn, some cable viewers got to see CNN's international feed for continuing coverage of the tsunami's aftermath. CNN International has inherited CNNfn's spot at Channel 100 for Time Warner digital subscribers.
And CNN International was the best place to experience this almost unimaginable story. Unlike channels targeting American viewers, it dropped almost all normal features for wall-to-wall reporting.
Jon Klein, the new president of CNN/US says "CNNI is one of the many unfair advantages CNN has in covering any international story. We were able to get 50 correspondents, producers and camera men on the scene immediately."
