Crowley Named Anchor State of the Union
John King just announced that CNN Senior Political Correspondent Candy Crowley will be the anchor of State of the Union beginning next week. King will be host a daily program each evening on CNN.

Decision time! I've received countless e-mails from blog readers what's up with lack of posts. The answer is TIME. Over the past 6 months my job...my career has kicked into high gear and has left little time if any to blog or even watch tv. Then while out on the road this past Summer how great it was to be able to be out and doing something in one's free time. So with that I have come to the conclusion to cease postings for awhile. Guys, there's more to life than sitting around blogging about cable news. Get out there and FIND IT!

CNN Hires Host to Anchor New International News Program
Source: CNN Press Release Fareed Zakaria, editor of Newsweek International and one of the world’s leading journalists and commentators on international affairs, has joined CNN as the host of a weekly international news program that will air both on CNN/U.S. and on CNN International around the world, it was announced today by Jon Klein, president of CNN/U.S. With Americans growing increasingly aware that their most pressing concerns – including prevention of terrorism attacks, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the security of jobs and retirement nest eggs, the safety of their families’ food and toys and the health of the environment – are intertwined with events around the globe, Zakaria will draw upon his vast experience and extensive Rolodex to bring thought leaders and world leaders together to make sense of it all on a global stage.
In addition to anchoring the new weekend program, Zakaria will contribute analysis to other CNN programs across CNN Worldwide. He is based in New York .
“Fareed is the best in the world at boiling down – without dumbing down – complex issues,” Klein said. “His weekly global get-together on CNN will be invaluable to viewers who are beginning to realize that, for their own personal and financial security, they urgently need to know what’s really going on in their world.”

Zakaria has served as an analyst for ABC News, a roundtable member of This Week with George Stephanopoulos and host of Foreign Exchange with Fareed Zakaria on PBS. Before joining Newsweek, he was managing editor of Foreign Affairs, a leading journal of international politics and economics. Zakaria is the author of, most recently, The Future of Freedom, an international bestseller published in 2003 and now being translated into 20 languages. He has a new book forthcoming in May 2008. He's won numerous awards and been named to various lists, most recently the Prospect/Foreign Policy list of the world's 100 most important intellectuals. He serves on the board of Yale University , the Council of Foreign Relations and a number of other not-for-profit organizations.
Zakaria earned a bachelor’s degree from Yale University and a doctorate in political science from Harvard University .

King Files Lawsuit in Alleged Life Insurance Scam
Source: The Smoking Gun Larry King claims that an unscrupulous insurance brokerage swindled him in connection with his sale of $15 million in personal life insurance policies. In a lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court In Los Angeles, the 73-year-old television star alleges that he was targeted in a 2004 scheme hatched by the Maryland-based Meltzer Group. In his October 22 complaint, a copy of which you'll find below, King charges that the insurance company convinced him to engage in a series of "highly complex life insurance transactions" that resulted in the CNN host's purchase and flipping of insurance policies with an aggregate value of $15 million. Amanpour Receives CBE in Queen Elizabeth II’s Birthday Honors List
Source: CNN Press Release For her services to journalism, Christiane Amanpour, CNN’s chief international correspondent, today was awarded a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) by Queen Elizabeth II.
The award was announced earlier this year on the occasion of Queen Elizabeth II official birthday, and Amanpour was one of a select number of public and private British citizens to be honored with this prestigious award. Established in June 1917 by King George V, the CBE is one of five medals that make up the “The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire ,” which recognizes outstanding contributions in the service of the country and the honoree’s profession.
Amanpour is among a small number of journalists to have been awarded a CBE. Her investiture today by Queen Elizabeth II took place in Buckingham Palace , where Amanpour was accompanied by her parents, husband and son.
“I am incredibly thrilled and very proud,” Amanpour said. “In the current climate, with so much weight put to sensationalism and tabloidism, for me personally this is a really nice moment because actual serious journalism is being recognized.”
“This is a wonderful honor for Christiane and a tribute to her outstanding dedication to the profession of journalism,” said Jim Walton, president of CNN Worldwide. “Everyone at CNN is extremely proud of the work she does and very excited for her on this important day.”
Amanpour, born of British/Iranian parentage, has reported on most crises from the world’s many news hotspots, including Iraq , Afghanistan , Iran , Israel , Pakistan , Somalia , Rwanda and the Balkans.
Her assignments have ranged from exclusive interviews with world leaders to reporting on the human consequences of natural disasters or covering events from the heart of war zones. She has received wide acclaim and numerous awards for her work, particularly for her extensive coverage of conflicts in the Balkans, Africa and the Middle East . Amanpour’s recent work has focused on a series of highly acclaimed long-form programs including two award-winning documentaries: Where Have All The Parents Gone?, a powerful film examining the plight of the more than one million children orphaned to AIDS in Kenya, and In the Footsteps of Bin Laden, a two-hour exploration of the life of the world’s most-wanted terrorist. Most recently, she reported for CNN’s three-part documentary God’s Warriors.
